Abstract

Okra and capsicum were inter-cropped with relatively short statured crops; beet-root, knol-khol, onion and peas. Based on the yield of vegetable, edible protein and calorie yields were calculated. It was observed that the short statured quick growing vegetables were superior in nutritional yield. Inter-cropping systems were higher nutritition yielders compared to the yield of companion crop in pure stand. It was found nutritionally beneficial to grow beet-root, knol-khol and peas with okra and capsicum.
