Abstract

The investigations were conducted to study the effect of severity of pruning on yield and quality in cv. Sharbati. The treatments were 4, 8, 12-pruning and control. The results indicated that fruit weight, volume, size, stone weight, pulp weight and pulp stone ratio improved significantly by all the pruning treatments over control, whereas, the number of fruits and yield per plant decreased with the increase in severity of pruning. Total soluble solids and non-reducing sugars were significantly improved by all the pruning treatments over control. The ripening of fruits was enhanced by seven days in severely pruned treatments in comparison to control. Keeping in view the fruiting, yield and other quality attributes, the 12-bud pruning showed better performance in comparison to other treatments.
