A rootstock trial was conducted on Hamlin cultivar of sweet orange budded on seven rootstocks namely: Jatti Kharti, Kharna Khatta, Troyer, Carrizo cit-ranges, Cleopatra, Sacaton and Savage. Jatti Khatti excelled all other rootstocks in imparting tree vigour, followed by Kharna Khatta. The plants on Kharna Khatta, however, showed severe bark cracking at the rootstock portion. Hamlin plants were prone to some mortality on Sacaton (17 per cent) and Savage (8 per cent) rootstoocks. On Kharna Kbatta, 33.3 per cent trees showed chlorotic leaves with off season flowering. Chlorotic leaves were also recorded on Troyer, Carrizo and Sacaton rootstocks varying from 25.0 to 66.7 per cent; whereas Jatti Khatti, Cleopatra and Savage showed healthy plants and foliage.
