Whole-tree sprays of aqueous solution of urea (10, 15 and 20 per cent) in April defoliates leaves and kill flower buds, thus, there is no fruiting in rainy season. Urea had a significant effect on per cent defoliation. Guava leaves drop normally between 19 and 25 days from the date of spraying. New leaves emerge between 17 and 23 days from the time of total defoliation. Fifty per cent blooming of flowers occurs after 21 to 27 days of the emergnce of new leaves. With the increase of the concentration of urea, there is maximization in number of fruits but the size of fruit reduces. Urea spray at 15 per cent is suitable for maximum fruit yield as well as better size of the fruits. Urea can be used to defoliate guava to induce new shoots, flowers and better quality fruit during winter.
