The total soluble solids of expressed juice of onion genotypes across seasons and years showed high genetic variability and genetic advance. The genotype × environment interactions were highly significant. The genotypes—Junagadh White and Junagadh Red were found to be stable genotypes for favourable environments while those with b<1.0 and average TSS greater than general mean were (Bellary Red and Telagi Light Red) stable in poor environments. The active accumulation of TSS in bulbs was upto 60th day of growth irrespective of genotypes and seasons. An appropriate breeding method for high TSS in onion has been suggested.
