Abstract

The experiment was conducted in 1982 ann 1983 with number two grade-size corms (3.2—3.8 cm diameter) in 12 varieties of gladiolus to ascertain if there is any varietal response on flowering and propagation. It was found that varieties play an imporant role for flowering and propagation even if planted with similar size of corms because from the same size ‘Salmon Queen’ recorded best propagation coefficient, plant height, spike length, number of florets and floret diameter whereas ‘Katrain Local’ and ‘Psittacinus Hybrids’ remained poor for many of the characters.
