Abstract

Fifty-seven selections belonging to four genera (Citrus, Fortunella, Poncirus and Severinia) and 24 species/hybrids were evaluated to determine their reaction to the citrus nematode, Tylenilwlus stmipenetrans Cobb, 1913. Resistance ratings were based on the number of larvae and adult females on the feeder roots. Severinia disticha, Poncirus trifoliate/ strains and hybrids (except two) were rated resistant. Hybrids between Pummelo × Trifoliate orange and Smooth Flat Seville × Swingle citrumelo exhibited moderately resistant reaction. Swingle citrumelo and P. trifoliata strains can be directly used as citrus rootstocks in India. FfTorts are underway to utilize Swingle citrumelo and P. trifoliata strains as parents in the citrus root-stock improvement programme.
