Abstract

Studies were conducted on the germination of unstratified seeds of two varieties of grapes immediately after extraction from berries. The combinations of gibberellic acid and kinetin improved the germination of unstratifieds eeds with concentrations upto 2500 ppm. The concentrations of3000ppmand above proved inhibitory. The maximum germination was observed with 1500 ppm GA3 plus 2500 ppm kinetin in Black Muscat as well as Julski Muscat. The mid-season cv. Black Muscat gave much better germination than early maturing cv. Julski Muscat. The seedlings became transplantable (above 34 cm in height) within 5 months after germination and all seedlings survived after planting in the field.
