The Selection of Leaf Pair for N, P and K Analysis of Gladiolus Cv. Sylvia

Foliar analysis was. carried out in all three pairs i.e. first, second and third pair of leaves at five different stages of growth viz. S_x (2 leaf stage—34 days after planting), S₂ (4 leaf stage—54 days after planting), S₃ (6 leaf stage—73 days after planting), S,—(54 bloom stage-122 days after planting) and S₅ stage (harvest stage— 167 days after planting) separately for N, P and K in Gladiolus cv. Sylvia grown in sandy loam soil during 1984–85. For N, P and K 1st pair of leaves at S₃ stage (6 leaf stage: 73 days after planting), is suggested for foliar sampling for determination of N, P and K nutrients At these stages the content of N, P and K was found to T)e 2.70 per cent, 0.28 per cent and 2.35 per cent respectively.
