Highest correlation coefficients were obtained with recently matured petioles (6th leaf from top) of papaya for the effect of different levels of N, P and K on their nutrient status among different stages of physiological maturity. Thus, tne recently matured petiole is an ideal tissue for the nutritional diagnosis of N and P in papaya. Better relationship of recently matured petioles with yield indicated its superiority in nutritional diagnosis compared to young (1st) and matured (I lth) petioles.
