Abstract

Methanol killed "mentor pollen" were not helpful in overcoming incompatibility barriers. Contrary to this, freezed and thawed "mentor pollen" improved fruit set both in intra as well as interspecific incompatibility. There were however, no additional advantages in increasing fruit set by even freezed and thawed "mentor pollen" in interspecific crosses when the maternal parent was a self-compatible culti-var of Primus salicina.
