Abstract

A rootstock trial was planted at Abohar (Punjab) during 1977 on Hamlin cultivar of sweet orange budded on seven rootstocks namely: Jatti Khatti, Kharna Khatta, Troyer, Carrizo, Sacaton, Savage and Cleopatra. The results revealed that Hamlin trees budded on Jatti Khatti proved most vigorous and productive as these gave significantly more tree girth with 100 per cent healthy trees. Cleopatra proved the next best rootstock. Not much significant differences were observed with respect to physico-chemical parameters of fruits amongst different rootstocks. Cleopatra produced less granulated fruit than those observed on Jatti Khatti root-stock.
