Abstract

The weed control studies were carried out on 10 year old Kinnow trees budded on jatti-khatti (Citrus jambhiri Lush.) in the Collage Orchard of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during 1984. The herbicides used were oxadiazon and dalapon as pre-emergence and paraquat as postemergence stage each in three concentrations viz., 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 kg a.i/ha. The time of application was end April and end July. All the herbicides used, significanly reduced the number of weeds over control. Oxadiazon when applied at 5.0 1/ha (2.5 -f 2.5 1/ha) provided most effective weed control as compared to other herbicides. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake by weeds from the soil was significantly decreased by all the herbicides over control. Oxadiazon applied at 5.0 1/ha was most effective in checking the uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Maximum soil moisture content was conserved in plots treated with oxadiazon at 5.0 1/ha.
