Abstract

A study was carried out to find out the efficacy of nitrogen of both organic and inorganic sources on growth, quality and yield of okra cultivar Pusa Sawani.

The plants under the treatment 20 kg of N (ammonium sulphate) with 20 kg of N from organic source, particularly with poultry manure recorded the highest plant height, number of nodes, branches and other growth attributes. This treatment resulted with the highest number of flowers and fruits per plant leading to the highest yield of 18.019 t/ha. The fruit qualities were also enhanced appreciably by this treatment. The study thus revealed that to get good quality of okra fruits, combined application of organic and inorganic source of nitrogen are necessary.
