Abstract

In the present studies, the concentration of promoters in pericarp increased from full bloom upto 35 days after and thereafter it reduced to minimum at picking maturity. However, in seed the promoters were in higher quantity in the initial stages but declined as the fruit attained maturity. The inhibitor levels in the pericarp and seed ran parallel to growth rate of fruit and seed. It was highest in the 1st and III phases of rapid growth and minimum during the period of slow growth in II phase. The concentration in seed was more than that in pericarp tissue.
