Abstract

A 9 × 9 diallel set of crosses in brinjal was examined for graphical analysis and components of variation. The graphical analysis showed partial dominance for total chlorophyll, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and anthocyanin. The components of variation showed that additive component was important for total chlorophyll, chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b whereas both additive as well as non-additive genetic components were involved in the inheritance of anthocyanin. The narrow sense heritability estimates were medium for these characters. The reciprocal recurrent breeding procedure seems to be effective.
