Abstract

Studies on the effect of boron and plant growth regulators on vegetative growth and yield in cucumber, watermelon and bottle gourd were carried out and it was observed that GA 50 ppm in cucumber and ethrel 100 ppm in bottle gourd produced the maximum vine growth and number of nodes on the main axis. However, in watermelon, Maleic Hydrazide 50 ppm recorded the maximum vine length and boron 2 ppm induced the highest number of nodes on the main axis. Ethrel 50 ppm in cucumber and 100 ppm in bottle gourd proved to be the best for increasing the number of fruits per vine and yield, whereas, in watermelon boron 2 ppm recorded the highest number of fruits, average fruit weight and yield.
