Abstract

Metroglyph and index score analysis of 29 almond cultivars/selections was carried out for 9 morphological characters, viz., tree trunk girth, height, spread, volume, foliage density, petiole length, leaf area, leaf length and leaf breadth. Results have indicated that almond germplasm under study can be easily divided into five distinct morphological complexes on the basis of trunk girth and leaf area. No variation for trunk girth and Jeaf area was observed in groups II and V, whereas it was more pronounced in remaining three groups. Other characters varied extensively within all the groups. Index scores varied from 0 to 18 and maximum frequency was recorded at an index score of 7.
