Studies were conducted for 2 years on the effect of sowing dates and cultivars on different growth parameters. The taller cvs. Pant uphar and NLP, both being at par, showed significantly higher CGR than the dwarf cv. Arkel. The LAR also showed similar trend, but the RGR and NAR were higher in Arkel than the other two cultivars. No definite pattern was observed with respect to the effects of sowing dates or the interaction. The variations in different growth parameters were more common during the period between full bloom to 50 per cent pod harvest than the early growth phase i.e. between 30 days after sowing to full bloom.
