Oxidative browning when shoot tips (10 mm) of Pusa Seedless and Beauty Seedless grape vine were cultured on macro-salt modified Murashige and Skoog media supplemented with 10 μm benzylaminopurine was reduced significantly with correspondingly higher explant survival. But browning was aggravated when ammonium nitrate was reduced to one fourth strength. However, performance of proliferating cultures when transferred to MS proliferating media, was adversely affected. The carry over effect on proliferation was relatively less severe in cultures transferred from initiating MS medium containing half strength of anmonium nitrate.
