Can guard rows be dispensed with in papaya fertilizer trialsa critical examination

The necessity or otherwise of border rows in case of papaya fertilizer trials were examined using three approaches viz. i) comaparison of treatment and border plants, ii) fitting of second degree polynomial involving N, P and K for both sets of data and iii) Anova comparison of both sets of data. This revealed that there is no difference between these approaches as far as results are concerned leading to the conclusion that the border rows can be dispensed with in case of papaya fertilizer trials.
