Abstract

Studies on the performance of different varieties belonging to early, medium and late maturity groups were conducted at Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Ranchi, for identifying suitable varieties among each group for Ranchi plateau. The varieties 75-1C, 114-S and Pusa Snowball K-1 were found to be ideal for early, medium and late maturity crops respectively, which recorded a yield of 21.88 q/ha, 102 q/ha and 219 q/ha than the commercially cultivated varieties Early Kunwari (12.29 q/ha), Main crop (78.8 q/ha) and Pusa Snowball (183.4 q/ha), under Ranchi conditions.
