Abstract

The mobile nutrients, namely, N, P, K and Mg were the highest in young leaves and decreased with its advancing age. Calcium concentration increased with leaf age, while S, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu failed to show any marked variation with leaf age. It is suggested that petiole of third fully open leaf at twentieth leaf stage would be ideal sample for diagnosis. In banana, floral bud initiation and differentiation takes place about 5 months after planting when plants were at twentieth leaf stage.
