Abstract

Three planting densities in guava, and with management by hedgerow system in closer spacing revealed that vegetative growth did not show significant variation, probably owing to manipulation. Individual plants gave high yield in wider spacing btJt, on per unit area basis, high density plantation (6 x 2 m spacing) gave almost double the crop than 6 x 6 m spacing. The fruits on closer spaced plants and trained to a hedge were slightly smaller in size but qualitywise found to be better. This practice can be adopted by farmers for better returns per unit area.
