Abstract

Stomatal count was taken in four ber rootstocks, and correlated with growth parameters and stomatal density. The number of stomata were found the highest in Z. mauritiana cv. Tikadi followed by Z. rotandifolia, Z. spinichristii and Z. nummularia. The growth of rootstocks in term of height, spread, trunk diameter and leaf area were positively correlated with number of stomata. The Z. nummularia having the lowest number of stomatal density was found to be dwarfing type and Z. rotundifolia and Z. mauritiana having higher density of stomata was found to be vigorous rootstocks.
