Abstract

Studies were conducted on the comparative performance of two plum cultivars viz. ‘Kala Amritsari’ and new introduction Fla, 1–2 under the sub-tropical conditions of Punjab. Observations with respect to flowering, fruiting, yield and quality characteristics were recorded for four years. The cultivar Fla. 1–2 ripened 6 days earlier, had significantly higher fruit weight, low acidity, possessed better keeping and shipping quality than ‘Kala Amritsari’. Thus, f1a. 1–2 is suitable for cultivation in Punjab and adjoining plains of North India.
