Organial manures, such as farm yard manure, poultry manure and horse manure were used to study the uptake of major nutrients in okra. The uptake of nitrogen and phosphorus was greater in the treatment combination of half inorganic and half organic nitrogen, particularly from poultry manure. The highest potassium uptake was observed in the plants when applied with equal quantities of organic and inorganic nitrogen. Calcium and magnesium uptake was markedly influenced by the application of 20 kg nitrogen (as ammonium sulphate) and 20 kg nitrogen from organic source, particularly with poultry manure.
