Multiple shoots have been contained on MS medium containing 0.5 mg/l each of BAP and kinetin alongwith 3 per cent table sugar. These shoots readily rooted on MS medium containing 1 mg/I IBA. Well rooted plants were transferred to a mixture of sand and soil, and after 1–2 weeks to the nursery. A large number of plants have been established. Some of the colt rootstocks were grafted with Black Heart variety of sweet cherry. The plants have exhibited vigorous growth. The procedure reported has been found to be very rapid and cost effective for clonal multiplication of colt.
