Abstract

The influence of plant densities and applied nitrogen on the 0 leaf and total leaf area in Kew pineapple was studied. 53,333 plants/ha and nitrogen dose of 16 g/plant registered the maximum leaf area values indicating the disadvantage of going for drastic decrease in the three-way spacing to accommodate very high number of plants per unit area. The soil application of full nitrogen was conducive for the development of higher leaf areas. The nitrogen supplied as post-flowering sprays were not utilised by the plants for further leaf development.
