Abstract

A varietal cum rootstock trial with six promising varieties viz. Hybrid-15, California Papershell, Pethick's Wonder, JK-55, JK-65 and JK-168 on two rootstocks namely Kabul Green Gauge and Sloh were laid out. Nut weight, kernel weight, nut length, breadth, kernel length and breadth was higher in Kabul Gren Gauge than Sloh rootstock. Out of the soions Pethick's Wonder had the highest nut weight, kernel weight, nut length, breadth, kernel length but kernel breadth was more in California Papershell. Trees on Sloh rootstock produced higher percentage of kernels than Kabul Green Gauge rootstock. Amongst the scions Hybrid-15 was found to be the highest kernel yielder. Double and shrivelled kernels were more on Kabul Grean Gauge rootstock than Sloh. JK-65 had the highest percentage of double as well as shrivelled kernels. However, minimum double kernels were in California Papershell and shriveled in case of JK-55.
