The effect of shade and direction of the fruits on the trees on fruit quality parameters were studied. Significantly more fruit breadth was recorded in partial shaded trees than complete shaded trees. Fruits taken from the central direction on the trees showed significantly more size and weight than those observed in the fruits taken from the other directions. The trees situated in the complete shade showed the maximum juice content and more acidity. However, the effect of shade was not significant on juice percentage, TSS, vitamin C, granulation, reducing sugar and total sugar contents. Thus, shading by windbreaks does not adversely affect the fruit quality of kinnow trees.
