A study was undertaken to find out the effect of different rootstocks and training systems on photosynthetic efficiency and fruit quality of ‘Delicious’ apples. No consistent effect of different rootstocks and cultivars was discernible, however higher photosynthetic efficiency and better fruit quality was observed in the trees trained as spindle bush than those under modified central leader system. Among different combinations, Starking Delicious cultivar grown on M7 roootstock and trained as spindle bush produced the best results.
