Abstract

Heritablity, genetic advance and correlation of yield and its components were worked out in a 8 = 8 diallel set of tomato. Heritability estimates and expected genetic advance (percentage of mean) were found to be high for plant height, fruit length, fruit diameter, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight and yield per plant indicating scope for selection and breeding for its improvement. Yield per plant had significant positive association with fruit weight, plant height, number of branches per plant and number of fruits per plant at genotypic level. Fruit diameter was positively and significantly associated with fruit weight.
