Symptoms of phosphorus deficiency were induced in sand culture under glass house conditions. Deficiency of P resulted in stunted plant height, reduced number and size of leaves, and premature defoliation as compared to plant supplied with normal nutrient solution (control). Deficiency of P also resulted into development of typical foliage symptoms of leaf bronzing and the critical level of phosphorus was considered to be 0.03 per cent on dry weight basis under sand culture.
