Patterns of auxins content of developing malformed inflorescence were very different from those in normal inflorescence. Generally, all the auxins, viz., acidic, non-acidic and total auxin concentrations were always higher in the healthy panicles than malformed panicles. However, auxin deficiency may not be the sole cause since auxin application have failed to revert malformed panicles into healthy ones and auxin deficiency could also be an effect or rather a cause for malformation.
