Abstract

The concentration and uptake pattern of major, secondary and micro-nutrients by sucker and tissue culture propagated plants under field condition were compared. No significant difference in concentration of nutrients at three different stages of growth was noticed between sucker and tissue culture grown plants. By virtue of greater accumulation of dry matter, the uptake of different nutrients by sucker propagated plants was higher as compared to tissue cultured plants. The percentage distribution of various nutrients among corm, root, stem and leaves was similar for sucker and tissue cultured plants, and leaf was the largest repository for most of the nutrients except P and K.
