Abstract

Investigations were carried out to determine the optimum size and shape of plots for gladiolus cultivar Friendship in a 16×16m plot. A plot size of 0.96 square metre corresponding to a plant stand of 16 arranged in a rectangular shape was found to be optimum and is recommended for conducting field experiment in gladiolus. Rectangular plots were more efficient over square plots. Between plants, competition was negligible and the soil heterogenity was found less.
