Phosphorus uptake kinetics and root morphology in grape

Phosphorus uptake kinetics in relation to root morphological parameters was studied in grape varieties Anab-e-Shahi, Thompson Seedless, Bangalore Blue and St. George rootstock. Bangalore Blue had significantly higher I_max and I_n and also had more number of second order lateral roots per cm of first order lateral root resulting in a higher root density. Phosphorus uptake kinetics and root morphology parameters suggest that Bangalore Blue may be more efficient in the absorption of native as well as applied phosphorus.
