Shoot explants were obtained from stock cultures of Rosa hybrida cv. Super Star maintained on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with BAP (2.0 mg/l) + NAA (0.1 mg/l). Shoots, 2.5 - 3.0 cm in height were, cultured in to conical flasks or jam bottles and incubated at 20 ± 2°C with a 16 h photoperiod supplied by cool fluorescent tubes. Roots were visible after 1 week of culture. IBA (0.5 mg/l) was found very effective and it recorded 87.66 percent rooting and produced 25.16 roots per shoot. It also hastened the process of root initiation.
