Abstract

Studies were conducted with eight citrus species namely, C. volkameriana, C. limon, C. grandis, C. jambhiri, C. aurantifolia, C. reticulata, C. reshnii and C. sinensis using shoot explants from in vitro grown nucellar plantlets. Shoot tips obtained from in vitro grown seedlings were cultured in MS medium supplemented with 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 mg/l BAP. Among the species C. sinensis and C. reshnii produced maximum number of shoots at 0.25 mg/l BAP. There were significant variations between species for shoot proliferation. C. limon recorded longest shoot. BAP at 0.75 mg/l produced maximum number of shoots.
