Abstract

Studies were conducted to break the dormancy and induce early maturity in order to improve the yield and fruit quality of Kala Amritsari plum with Dormex. Dormex @ 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 percent was sprayed on 28th December and 4th January about one month before the normal time of sprouting. Dormex @ 2 percent advanced the flowering by 10 days, fruit set by 6 days and maturity by 6 days as compared to control. There was significant improvement in fruit yield under 2 percent Dormex treatment. The TSS was more and acidity was less under all the Dormex treatments as compared to control. Between the dates, its application on 28th December proved better than its application on 4th January in advancing flowering, fruit - set, maturity and improving the yield and quality of Kala Amritsari plum.
