The 6 × 6 diallel analysis in okra revealed the predominance of the nonadditive gene actions for most of the traits studied. None of the parent was good general combiner for all the characters. However, Arka Anamika was good combiner for five important characters. The crosses MOW × BOl, MOW × AA, GOH4 × NRO, GOH4 × AA, GOH4 × KO, BOl × NRO, BOl × KO and NRO × KO gave significant positive sca effects for fruit yield per plant which was reflected through significant desirable sca effects in atleast two component characters. Adoption of suitable methods for advanced generations are suggested.
