Abstract

One to four peroxidase isozyme bands were recorded in unpollinated pistils of various plum cultivars. In each of the three peach cultivars, there were always four peroxidase bands. Pollen peroxidase (only one band) could be detected in 7 out of 11 plum cultivars and in all the three peach cultivars studied. However, a definite correlation of peroxidases with S-locus could not be established. In another study, peroxidases were found to be useful in the identification of plum × peach hybrids from their parents.
