Abstract

Effect of pre-harvest sprays of calcium and potassium on fruit quality characteristics of cherry cv. Makhmali revealed that calcium chloride sprays reduced and potassium chloride increased the fruit weight vis-a-vis their dimensions. However, calcium chloride sprays had no effect on fruit yield, potassium chloride treatment at 1.5 and 2.0 per cent level significantly increased fruit yield and juice content. Pulp/stone ratio also increased with potassium treatments. Both calcium and potassium treatments reduced cracking index, but increased total sugars and ascorbic acid content. Application of 2.0 per cent spray of calcium and potassium chloride significantly increased TSS and anthocyanin contents.
