The nature and magnitude of genetic variability and their inter-relationship was studied for nine characteristics in fifteen cultivars of Papaya. High estimates of GCV, PCV, heritability and genetic advance was recorded for number of fruit/plant followed by yield of fruit/plant indicating the effectiveness of improvement and selection. Most of the economic traits were positively associated and the study revealed the importance of fruit weight as selection criteria for improvement of papaya.
