Abstract

Performance of five kiwifruit cultivars viz. Allison, Abbott, Bruno, Hayward and Monty was studied under mid-hill conditions of Himachal Pradesh. Fruits of cultivar Bruno were the first to mature and took 194 days from full bloom to harvest. However, fruit of Hayward matured in the end which took 202 days. Maximum fruit yield was recorded in Abbott and Allison cultivars. Fruit of Hayward attained maximum size and weight, followed by Allison, while minimum size and weight was recorded in Monty. Maximum TSS and minimum acidity was recorded in the fruits of Allison, while sugar content was maximum in Hayward. Maximum ascorbic acid content was recorded in Bruno. Among all the cultivars, Allison was found to be the best cultivar in respect of yield and fruit quality for mid hill conditions.
