Twenty five lines of vegetable amaranth were studied to estimate the variability, heritability, genetic advance and correlation coefficients. High genotypic coefficient of variation was obtained for number of leaves, leaf weight, stem weight, leaf-stem ratio and yield of greens per plant. Heritability and genetic advance were also higher for these five characters indicating the possibility of selection to improve these characters. Yield of greens showed highly significant and positive association with plant height, leaf length, leaf breadth, stem girth, leaf weight and stem weight, which indicates the importance of these characters during selection for high yielding genotypes in vegetable amaranth.
