Abstract

Eight year old kinnow mandarin trees raised on Jatti Khatti rootstock and planted at 6×3 m spacing were pruned in order to have uniform fruiting. Removal of alternate trees and moderate pruning treatments responded to higher production of growth and yield. Trees alternately removed gave maximum yield and better quality. This treatment was followed by removal of extra growth three feet from the tree centre in east-west direction. Hence, removal of alternate trees or moderate pruning is recommended after eight years of field age in high density plantation.
