Abstract

A study was undertaken to find out the effect of Dormex (hydrogen cyanamide) on floral malformation in different cultivars of mango. Dormex applied in different combinations (0.25, 0.5 and 1% a.i.) at the time of flower-bud differentiation in the second week of October increased the floral malformation considerably in indigenous cvs Alphonso, Neelum, Samarbehist Chowsa and tolerant Bhadauran as well as in exotic cvs Ametista, Extrema, Sensation and Tommy Atkins. It appeared that Dormex had a strong tendency towards increasing the floral malformation in mango. The exact function of hydrogen cyanamide in causing floral malformation has to be worked out in detail.
