Abstract

The influence of triacontanol and paclobutrazol on the drought tolerance of nonpareil almond plants with four soil moisture tension levels, viz. −0.5, −2.5, −5 and −10 bars and two levels each of triacontanol and paclobutrazol were taken up. Plants irrigated at −0.5 bar and treated with 10 ppm triacontanol accumulated highest chlorophyll content along with the highest rate of photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal conductance. Plants stressed at −10 bars and treated as control accumulated the lowest chlorophyll content, whereas plants irrigated at −10 bars and treated with 100 ppm paclobutrazol had the lowest photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal conductance. Plants treated with triacontanol (10 ppm) performed better than those treated with other growth regulator.
